Present paper deals with the empowerment of women in India in general and political empowerment in particular. Women in India still lack right to inherit property, own land, get education, obtain credit as well as political representation inspite of alot of efforts at goverment level. The author believes that giving 33% reservations is also not going to give best result for women Instead of this empowerment of women in all spheres of life may help them to achieve better social status.
