This paper is a result of the fieldwork conducted in Jaunsar-Bawar (Dehradun district, Uttarakhand) for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology. This study was confined to the Jaunsari villages of the Chakrata Block (Tehsil Chakrata). The area is replete with temples of various cults, paramount and minor. The temples of gods of higher order and those lower in the hierarchy have been described here.
