Present paper attempts to clarify the forms, different types and poverty alleviation measures. It also tries to confer how factors like illitracy, non-technical education, self confidence, social structure, unemployment, economical imbalance, land distribution imbalance, exploitative behaviour etc. encourage it with role and policies of government in its alleviation. Reasons of the success and rejection of the policies were also discussed.
