Bamboo Art and Structure of the Dhurwa Tribals

Abstract

This Research paper deals with the Bamboo Arts of the Dhurwa Tribals. The Dhurwa tribes are located in the Bastar, Chhattisgarh. The data were collected from the Darbha Block of Bastar District where Dhurwa's are resided. The data were collected mainly from the four villages namily Chhindawada, Chandragiri, Mangalpur and Chitapur. Though, Dhurwa are now a day's mordnized yet, they practicing Bamboo work as a livelihood. They make different type of Pot types of basket, Basketries, Fishing trap, Bow & Arrow etc. with the help of Bamboo, they use bamboo in Socio-Religious life practices. Bamboo does also play an important role in their Economy, Social and Religious life.
