Identifying the current status of some major psychological entrepreneurial traits and variables affecting development of entrepreneurship spirit (case study: master students of Khouzestan Ramin Agriculture and Natural Resources University)

Abstract

The present study is an applied research by nature and a descriptive survey from the perspective of data-collection method. The participants include Master students of the Khouzestan Ramin Agriculture and Natural Resources University (182 people) and the sample size was determined 123 people based on Morgan's Table. Sampling was done using the random sampling method proportionate with the class volume. A standard questionnaire of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz as well as a researcher-made questionnaire was used for data collection. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by some of the scientific Board members of KhouzestanRamin Agriculture and Natural Resources University, and Chronbach's Alpha Test was used to measure its reliability, which was 79% and 81% for identification of students’ views regarding the influence of the Higher Education System's entrepreneurial activities on entrepreneurial spirit development and the importance of each major psychological entrepreneurial traitin students’ entrepreneurship respectively. Results reveal that the respondents have had the most favorable status in the trait of internal locus of controland the least favorable status in risk-taking trait. There is no significant difference between the students’ entrepreneurial spirit in terms of gender, marital status, employment history and workplace variables, but there is a significant difference between their entrepreneurial spirit in terms of age and employment status. The correlation test results showed that there is a significant statistical relation between students’ perception of the importance rate of all the psychological entrepreneurial traits (excluding creativity) and their entrepreneurial spirit score.
