Abstract

Ergonomics or human factors Engineering is a combined science that attempts to design organizations, workplace and job environments according to human physical and mental abilities and their interests. This science attempts to match workplace with human being rather than human with workplace. It has been established in the aim of increasing human efficiency, and in terms of physical condition, considers the security and welfare in workplace. Ergonomics mostly focuses on the planning for human beings who have unique characteristics some of which, such as age and length, are unchangeable, while some others, such as education and experience, are able to be manipulated. The domain in which ergonomics studies and practices include: designing tools, equipments, machinery and utilities carefully and desirably; designing procedures according to the best method fitting to human physical structure and mental coordination between people and workplace and tools; establishing correct position of body exposure and human moving while working; and creating suitable physical conditions in workplace (according to factors such as: temperature, moisture, air flow, vibration, noise, light and lighting, dust, radiations and various pollutions). In this research, we examined the effect of ergonomics factors on human efficiency by using a descriptive-survey method. Statistical populations includes 210 staffs and managers of bank saderat of Markazi Province. The findings of the study shows that factors such as color, light and equipment have a positive effect on work efficiency, and improving the light conditions and using standard colors and lighting in the branch affect the efficiency of staffs. In addition, using the mild colors in workplace to decrease staffs stress in the branch, considering the height of worktable, and using standard keyboards and monitors are effective factors that influence the personnel efficiency of Bank Saderat of Markazi Province.
