Abstract

Certainly education systems around the world formed and developed in order to meet the needs and specific requirements; that its goal is preparation of new generation as an active and effective citizen for entering to society. In other words, citizenship education is one of the most justifier reasons for the necessity and importance of education system and curriculum in the present time. Iran's education system is the basic institution which is responsible for the preparation and training of citizens in the country, and undoubtedly it is faced with one of the most important objectives and duties. Unfortunately, Iran's education system has no specific curriculum entitled "citizenship education", also less effect of it can be found in other curricula. Hence the necessity of citizenship education in the education system is felt more than ever, for the purpose of teachers’ knowledge with this approach. This paper is going to evaluate and analysis the important approaches in citizenship education, by consideration importance and urgency of the problem. At the end, the effectiveness of approaches to citizenship education in the education system is described.
