Abstract

To develop and inculcate the human capital required for building the societies of the future, Entrepreneurship and education are the two interconnected extraordinary opportunities that need to be leveraged. We are of the opinion that entrepreneurship education and training (of necessity) must fulfill a primary role in preparing our youth for their future. The aim of the paper is to explore required relevant entrepreneurial competencies in order to rate them according to their level of importance for entrepreneurship development. This paper specifically examines the perspective of entrepreneurs and Faculty experts within the NCR region about relevant competences that entrepreneurs are expected to manifest when facing with the business startups or trying to revive the existing one for more profitable and viable business options. Data collected through personal interviews, which was conducted among entrepreneurs and teachers are used to explore the important entrepreneurial competencies among students which is useful for venture initiation and success based on their perspectives. Survey results indicate that according to entrepreneurs Identification of business opportunities is the most important competences and as per the opinion from faculty experts in the field; innovation and creative thinking are important competencies. This paper highlights the important role that education at all levels plays in developing entrepreneurial competencies and, skills and in building innovation capabilities by adopting considerable changes in the modules and curricula of colleges that can help students prepare on enriching successful business startups and the survival of profitable ventures.
