Abstract

Critical review of literature clearly indicated that incorporation of legumes either for grain or fodder or green manuring purpose in crop rotation under multiple cropping programme is of much significance especially in economy of inorganic nitrogenous fertilizer and increasing productivity of succeeding cereal crops, it also helps to improve soil productivity. The inoculation of specific strain of Rhizobium seems to be further beneficial on the residual effect on legumes like Summer mung (Vignaradiata L.) to sustain and stabilise the growth and yield of rice.
