Citrus mites: Management – A review

Citrus mites (Acarina: Arachnida) are widely distributed throughout the world. Besides citrus, a variety of other plants including fruit crops, vegetables, field crops and also weeds are attacked by mites. Its damage is popularly known as ‘rind disorder’ on Kinnow mandarin, ‘mangu disorder’ on sathgudi orange, ‘rusting’ on grapefruit, ‘lalya’ on Nagpur mandarin and ‘sharkskin’ on lemons and limes. Various methods viz., monitoring, cultural, chemical, IGR's, botanicals, biological control etc. used to control citrus mites have been reviewed in this article. Location specific mile problems, development of forecasting models, indepth studies on control index of various mile species have been emphasized as future line of work.
