Abstract

Soil solarization through temperature effects influences soil physical, chemical and biological properties and crop performance in the post solarization period. Temperature dynamics under solarization depend on variety of factors. Solarization during summer months results in higher soil temperature maxima compared to non-solarized treatment. The magnitude of rise in the temperature maxima varied with transparency and thickness of polyethylene, placement height, duration of solarization and residue incorporation. This paper reviews the work done on the subject.
