Adverse effect of indiscriminate use of agrochemicals in agriculture is now being increasingly realized. It is the need of the hour to meet the challenges of our current and future food demand without deteriorating the environmental quality. A sustainable rather than intensive and exploitive approach to crop production is imperative to meet the unified objective of both food as well as environmental security. The potential role of integrated nutrient management and integrated pest management are well recognized to be the important contributing factors to economical viability in short run and environmental sustainability in long run and therefore they need to be given utmost priority in the crop production strategy for reorientation towards ecofriendly agriculture.
