Murda complex is one of the important diseases of chilli caused by the interaction of virus and carriers such as mites and thrips. Though insecticidal intervention brought down the pest population they have led to the problem of residues in the fruits. The presence of pesticide residues has seriously affected the export of chillies. Bydagi chilli lots were rejected at the international ports of the importing countries very often due to large pesticide residue. The indiscriminate use of chemicals has led to many undesirable problems like pest resurgence, destruction of natural enemies, environmental pollution etc. Hence it is imperative to produce pesticide free chilli by adopting eco-friendly management practices such as planting date, use of intercrops, use of mulches, host plant resistance, use of microorganisms, use of indigenous materials, botanicals, bioagents and use of silica are the ecofriendly approaches for the management of murda complex in chilli.
