Abstract

Results of a field experiment conducted during the dry season (June-September-1996) revealed that maximum rice grain yield (6823 kg ha−1) and net returns (Rs.24937 ha−1) were highest due to application of 180 kg N ha−1. 35 day old seedlings recorded the grain yield of (6619 kg ha−1) and net returns (Rs.24157 ha−1) as compared to 25 Day old seedlings (6070 kg ha−1 and Rs.21272 ha−1) respectively. Application of nitrogen in 5 splits recorded the grain yield of 6466 kg ha−1 than the 4 splits (6223 kg ha−1). The maximum N uptake (154 kg ha−1) was recorded with 35 day old seedlings at 180 kg N ha−1.
