Abstract

Twenty-four F1's, obtained from line X tester mating of eight lines and three testers were evaluated for yield and its components. The heterosis over mid-parent and over better parcnt was estimated for all the traits. Maximum mid-parental heterosis for seed yield was recorded by ICCL 87322 X Avrodhi cross while maximum heterobeltiosis for yield given by ICCV2 x Uday cross. It was also revealed that crosses having high mean performance always exhibited high heterosis in desired direction for almost all characters except for pods/plant.
