Abstract

Combining ability for yield and its components was studied with LxT(5x6). Higher value of sca variance for all characters revealed and propoderance of non-additive gene action. Among the lines, the PMS2A and among testers IR31802 and PAU 1106-6-2 were identidied as a good general combiners for yield and contibuting characters. Considering sca effects, the cross IR58025A/PR103 and IR58025A/PAU 1106-6-2 were found to be better than crosses which can be exploited for constituting new rice hybrids.
