Abstract

Field experiment conducted during 1996–97 to study the effect of different herbicides on nutrient uptake by raya and associated weeds especially under late sown conditions revealed that uptake of nitrogen and phosphorus by weeds was higher in unweeded control plot and imposition of weed control treatments significantly reduced the removal of nutrients by weeds. Nitrogen and phosphorus uptake by seed and stover of raya was significantly higher in different weed control treatments over unweeded control except pre- and post-emergence application of isoproturon.
