The results of the experiment showed that seed and stalk yield were significantly higher in all the treatments as compared to control. The highest seed (15.35 q ha−1) and stalk yield (58.37 q ha−1) was recorded in the treatment where 50% NPK was applied With 10 t compost ha−1. Similarly, maximum energy yield (200.5 t MJ ha−1), protein content (33.15%), oil content (47.15%) and oil yield (723.7kg ha−1) was obtained in this treatment, NPK and S uptake was significantly raised due to different treatments compllred to control and the highest value of uptake i.e. 96.2, 28.76, 104.5 and 9.81 kg ha−1 respectively was obtained in above treatment combination. Availability of NPK and S was found, to have increased due to use of organic manures whether used alone or in combination with fertilizers (50% NPK) as compared to inorganic sources and control. The highest cost of cultivation (Rs. 7134 ha−1), gross return (Rs.11142 ha−1) and cost of production (Rs.5. 76kg−1) was found in the treatment where recommended dose of 100% NPK was added Without organic manures. While the maximum net return (Rs.7461 ha−1) and cost benefit ratio (1:2.17) was achieved in the treatment where only 50% of recommended dose of NPK was given in conjunction with 10 t compost ha−1.
