Abstract

A field experiment to evaluate the uptake of NPK by rice crop (grain and straw) and by weeds as influenced by different weed control treatments was conducted during kharif 1999. The results revealed that uptake of NPK by crop was maximum in weed free treatments closely followed by Acetachlor at 150 or 300 g.a.i./ha applied 3 or 8 DAT, ready mixture of Anilofos+Ethoxysulfuron at 325 g.a.i./ha applied 8 DAT and Butachlor at 1500 g.a.i./ha applied 3 DAT. Acetachlor 150 g.a.i./ha proved significantly superior in increasing the uptake of NPK over its lower dose 125 g.a.i./ha. All the herbicidal treatments significantly reduced the uptake of NPK by weeds as compared to weedy check. Minimum uptake was observed incase of Acetachlor at 150 or 300 g.a.i./ha applied at 3 or 8 DAT followed by Butachlor at 1500 g a.i/ha and ready mixture of Anilofos+Ethoxysulfuron at 325 g.a.i./ha applied 8 DAT.
