Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to find out the most suitable herbicide for controlling weeds in pea (Pisum sativum L.). Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin 1.5 kg/ha being at par with pendimethalin 1.5 kg/ha and hand weeding twice controlled the weeds effectively and recorded significantly higher number of pods per plant and thus higher pod yield than the remaining treatments. Weeds caused 64.0 per cent reduction in yield of pea. Maximum weed control efficiency of 94.2 per cent was recorded with Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg/ha.
