Seeds of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) cv. Pusa Baisakhi were treated with different concentrations (104M, 5x104M and 103M) of CdSO4. Gennination per cent remained unaffected upto 5 x 104M CdSO4 but inhibited to the extent of 5 per cent with 10−3M CdSO4. Seedling growth parameters like length, fresh and dry weight of different seedling parts were found to decrease over control in response to treatment with Cd2. The magnitude of inhibition directly correlated with the concentration of Cd2.
