Influence of Rhizobium inoculations on pigeonpea in dry zone of Karnataka

Abstract

Seed and soil inoculation studies performed with Rhizobium with reduced levels of nitrogenous fertilizers revealed that number of nodules per plant was maximum (29.87) in LAR-105 alone followed by 26.97 in LAR-105 + 50% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN). The dry weight per plant was maximum in seed inoculation with CC-1 + 50% (9.33 g/plant) followed by 9.06, 8.88 in RGR-10 + 50% N and LAR-105 + 50% N respectively. The maximum yield (20.10 kg/ha) was recorded in 100% N which was at par with 18.67 kg/ha yield in CC-1 + 50% N. The nodulation characters were found to be superior in Rhizobium treatments as compared to combination treatments.
