Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 1997–98 to 1999–2000 in alfisols of Anantapur with object of evaluating the bio-fertilizers on root nodulation, growth and yield of groundnut and their performance in association with organic and inorganic manures. The treatments consisted of bio-fertilizers (Rhizobium and PSB) alone and in combination with organic and inorganic manures. The results indicated that the nodule number was not significantly influenced by different sources of bio-fertilizers either alone or in combination with organic and inorganic fertilizers. Application of bio-fertilizer (Rhizobium + phosphiite solubilising bacteria) along with organic and inorganic manures did not influence the pod yield of groundnut, since the Rhizobium already existing in the soil is sufficient for growth and yield of groundnut.
