To access the extent of-success of crossed pod in rabi as well as kharif season in soybean, 4520 and 3000 cross combinations among the potential presents were attempted. Considering the genetics of reliable morphological characters viz. Flower colour, pubescence colour, growth habit, leaf shape, seed coat colour, hilum colour, and pod colour in F1 plants, the success of crossed pod was observed 9.07 per cent in kharif season whereas it was 11.17 per cent in rabi season. Seed setting per crossed pod was also relatively higher i.e. 1.7 seeds/pod in rabi as compared 1.5 seeds/pod in Kharif season. Though, primarily soybean is a traditional kharif crop, however considering the relative success of crossed pod setting it is concluded that rabi season may be utilized for supplementing the crossing programme among the potential parents of soybean particularly early maturing types.
