Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the nitrogen and phosphorus fertility levels of sorghum under humid sub-tropical climate. The study revealed that yield attributes like panicle length, panicle girth, panicle weight, number of grains per panicle were improved with increasing nitrogen and phosphorus levels. These characters were reflected in grain and straw yields. The highest grain and straw yields were obtained at 100 kg N and 50 kg P2O5/ha which were statistical at par with 80 kg N and 40 kg P2O5/ha. Amongst genotypes PJH 55, PJH-58 and CSH-11 outyielded CSV-13 and SPV-1025. The PJH-158 gave the highest grain as well as straw yields to the tune of 38.56 q/ha and 88.00 q/ha, respectively. This was follOlliied by PJH-55. The PJH-58 significantly outyielded CSH-11 (check).
