Abstract

The field trials were conducted on shallow black soils of low (1%) and high (> 19% CaCO3) lime content during rabi 1995 and 1996 with wheat, APP was applied through soil and foliar spray whereas DAP as spray only in kharif to soybean. Wheat crop was grown on the same site after soybean with the same randomization to study the residual effect. High lime significantly depressed the grain and straw yields and nutrient upake by wheat in both in years. There was progressive significant increase in the grain and straw yield of wheat with the progressive increase in the residual NP level and higher yields were also recorded with the full NP level. Residual effect of full NP and 1/2 NP together with 1/4 NP APP spray could result in the higher uptake of nutrients in both the soils.
