Abstract

Results from the field experiment conducted showed that actual gain in N content in soil after harvest of fenugreek increased with phosphorus application. Residual effect of phosphorus improved apparent gain and found maximum with 80 kg P20, ha−1 however, there was actual loss of N in soil after harvest of pearl millet crop. Apparent and actual gain in N content of soil after harvest of fenugreek was increased with increasing levels of sulphur to fenugreek. Residual effect of sulphur increased the apparent gain and actual loss of N content in soil after harvest of pearl millet crop. Seed treatment with Rhizobium and Rhizobium + PSB recorded actual gain in N status after harvest of fenugreek crop. Residual effect of bio-fertilizers showed apparent gain and there was actual loss of N from soil after harvest of pearl millet crop.
