Performance of wheat (Triticum aestlvum) varieties at different dates of sowing in North Western Himalayas

Field experiment was conducted during rabi, 1995–96 to evaluate the performance of fourteen wheat genotypes at two dates of sowing. Variety HS-240 recorded higher number of tillers and grains per ear, thereby produced significantly higher yield (24.3q/ha). Averaged over the varieties crop sown on the last week of November (28^th November) performed significantly better compared to October sown crop in mid hill condition of Himachal Pradesh.
