Abstract

The long-term experiment was started in the year 1988 to introduce right kind of cropping sequence with nutrient-management for sustainable crop production and maintenance of soil fertility in sorghum-wheat sequence on Vertisols. Treatments comprised of NPK levels with and without FYM, sulphur and zinc. The results indicated that increasing levels of fertilizsers increased yield of both sorghum and wheat, uptake of nutrients as well as fertility status of soil. Highest values were obtained with the application of 100% NPK + 10 t FYM ha−1 followed by 150% NPK application.
