Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif 1997 to study the impact of integration of methods of application at different doses of phosphorus on the performance of greengram (Vigna radiata L.) crop. The experimental findings show the growth and overall performance of greengram was greatly influenced by split application of phosphorus at lower dose, using different methods of application. The data on nodule count brings out the essentiality of splitting (two side placements) the phosphorus fertilizer, particularly for an efficient rhizobium populace in the rhizosphere. Further, the values of plant height and dry matter content revealed that the apportioned 1/2 amount of phosphorus (25 kg) when applied as a single top dressing at 25 DAS (side placement) gave excellent response. The boldness of grain as well as the yield was highest in plots treated with 50 kg phosphorus per hectare by 1/2 basal, 1/4 side placement at 25 DAS and 1/4 folii1r spray at 40 DAS.
