Abstract

A study of gene effects utilizing five parameter model in three groundnut crosses for certain quantitative characters indicated additive gene effects for harvest index and kernel yield in ICGV 86031 x JG 26 and ICGV 86031 x JL 24 and additive and dominance gene effects for these attributes in ICGV 86031 x Tirupati 1. Duplicate type of epistasis was observed for almost all characters studied. In general additive, dominance and additive x additive gene effects were observed predominant for the characters studied. Different gene effects were involved in the inheritance of traits studied indicating complex behaviour of genes governing these traits in groundnut.
