Abstract

The range, phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation, heritability and genetic advance were estimated for ten quantitative traits in twenty-one diverse genotypes of mungbean. High heritability for days to 50% flowering, days to maturity and 100 seed weight, moderate for seeds per pod and low for plant-height, clusters per plant, pods/cluster, pods/plant, pod-length and seed yield/plant was estimated. All the ten characters were observed to be having low genetic advance however improvement through selection for days to 50% flowering, days to maturity and 100 seed-weight may be effective in mung-bean breeding programme.
