Field trials were conducted consecutively for three years from 1991 to 1993 for the control of sugarcane leaf aphid, Metanaprus sacchari (Zehntner) on rabi sorghum. Results revealed that one spray either of dimethoate 30EC @ 0.05%, endosulfan 35EC @ 0.07%, monocrotophos 36WSC @ 0.04% or chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 0.05% effectively controlled the aphid (83.3, 80.2, 79.7 and 77.5% reduction in aphid population respectively) and recorded higher percentage of avoidable losses (12.8, 11.6,10.0 and 9.0% respectively) and also registered higher grain yield (28.9, 28.5, 28.0 and 27.7 q/ha respectively) with higher benefit cost ratio of 13.5, 10.7, 8.2 and 9.9 respectively.
