The results of the field experiment conducted during the winter seasons of 1995–96 and 1996–97 in sandy loam soils of Varanasi indicated that the number of nodules and leghaemoglobln content were maximum at flower Initiation stage when FeSO4 and ZnSO4 @ 5 kg ha−1 each were applied and four irrigations (5 em each) were given when compared to three irrigations (5 em each) and 2.5 kg each of ZnSO4 and FeSO4 ha−1 application. At flower termination stage, number of nodules decreased, due to the degeneration.
