Abstract

Three cytoplasmic genetic male sterile tines of cotton and seven restorers, were employed to develop 21 hybrids. All hybrids were planted in kharif season of 2000 in three envlrorunents. Stability analysis revealed that mean squares both for genotype x environment (linear) and pooled deviations were significant for seed cotton yield/plant, number of bolls/plant and boll weight. Hybrids 5A x Demeter, 6A x R2, 6A x R5, 7A x R4 and 7A x R5 were stable for seed cotton yield. Among these five hybrids, 7A x R4, 6A x R5 and 6A x R2 were stable for both seed cotton yield and boll weight.
