An experiment was conducted to compare the field performance of daughter suckers derived from tissue culture plants with conventional suckers as a planting material. The study showed that, daughter suckers derived from tissue cultured mother plants were more vigorous than conventional suckers and recorded significantly better field performance in respect of growth, duration and yield of Basrai banana. The plants raised from daughter suckers of tissue culture mother plants registered increased height by 2.93 per cent and girth by 4.05 per cent over normal suckers. Bunch emergence was early by about 6.17 days and harvesting was also by 9.59 days in plants raised from tissue culture mother plant. An increase of 11.7 per cent in bunch weight was also recorded.
