Abstract

Field experiment was conducted on wetting pattern and salt distribution for micro sprinkler irrigation in deep, medium and shallow soil. The study of soil moisture distribution was undertaken to know the effect of water application rate under 1 kg/cm2 pressure head at different time intervals in different types of soil. To know the effect of salt distribution the soil samples were analyzed at the beginning and at the end of experiment. The horizontal spread of 91 lit/h discharge rate for 1 and 2 hour on deep, medium and shallow soil was 3.00 m on the soil surface. The moisture content was found out to be 76 to 100% of field capacity of the soil. The accumulation of salt was found to be maximum at the periphery of wetted area.
