Results revealed that different sprouting characteristics were significantly affected by variety and fertilizer levels. Among the four varieties tested R-1449 resulted significantly better and R-1452 resulted poor sprouting characteristics. In respect of fertilizer levels, sprouting characteristics were found to be better under 40:20:20 kg NPK/ha as compared to 60:30:30 and 30:15:15 kg NPK/ha, however 20:10:10 kg NPK/ha resulted poor sprouting behaviour. In comparison to the seasons, all the sprouting characteristics were found to be superior during June over July and August and low in May.
