Yield attributes of malt barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) as influenced by nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and their correlation and regression with yield

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season 2001–02. The results showed that increasing levels of nitrogen and phosphorus increased the yield attributes. Application of 100 kg N ha−1 significantly increased the effective tillers per m2 row length (290.58), ear length (7.40cm), and grains per ear head (58.54), grain weight per ear head (1.80g) and 1000-grain weight (48.03g) over 40, 60 and 80 kg N ha−1. The effective tillers per m row length (279.87), length of ear head (7.03cm), grain weight per ear head (1.65g), number of grains per ear head (54.11) and 1000-grain weight (45.75g) were influenced significantly due to phosphorus application. Potassium application had no significant influence on yield attributes. Grain yield had positive and significant correlation with effective tillers per m2 row length, ear length, number of grains per ear head, weight of grain per ear head and test weight.
