Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the winter season of 1999–2000 and 2000–2001, to study the effect of sowing dates and moisture regimes on yield and water use efficiency of different wheat varieties under late sown conditions. Results showed that 3rd January sowing gave higher yield and WU than later date of sowing. Wheat variety GW 173 gave higher yield and water use efficiency (WUE) than Lok- 1 under late sown conditions. Irrigation 55% available soil moisture depletion (ASMD) gave higher yield and WUE of late sown wheat.
