A field study was conducted during the rainy (kharif) season of 2003–2004 at Junagadh, Gujarat, India. The results revealed that broad bed and furrow (BBF) and in-row subsoiling (IRS) significantly increased seed and stalk yield along with higher oil content and oil yield over flat bed (FB) control. BBF and IRS significantly reduced the P content of seed and stalk as well as K content of stalk, whereas increased the uptake of N by seed and Zn uptake by stalk over FB. Application of zinc @ 10 and 5 kg ha−1 significantly increased seed and stalk yields as well as oil content and oil yield over control. Zinc fertilization significantly depressed the P content in seed and stalk, while enhanced the K content of stalk and Zn content of seed and stalk as well as the uptake of N, K and Zn over control.
