Field experiments were conducted to study the biology and management of carpet weed in sorghum. The top 5cm layer showed the highest germinable seed reserves of 42 million ha−1 and contributing for 64 per cent of the total germinable seeds of Trianthema. The higher germination pattern was observed during the month of August followed by July and June Soil solarization for 40 days during the off-season coupled with black gram intercropping and pre-emergence application of metolachlor 0.75 kg ha−1 resulted in an efficient, economic and eco-friendly control of T. portulacastrum.
