Abstract

The present study analyses the status of agricultural mechanization in Himachal Pradesh along with assessment of gender participation in agriculture with existing farm tools, implement and machineries used. The study was conducted in two districts Kangra and Una with 40 villages each (10 households from each village). From the survey, it is clear that the animate power is the major power source in hill farming utilizing the traditional farm tools and implements. Most of the farm operations were carried out by farm women with traditional tools except ploughing, puddling and planking.
