Screening of agrochemicals against Rhizoctonia solani under laboratory conditions

Abstract

Various fungicides, insecticides, nematicides and herbicides were tested against Rhizoctonia solani, causing root-rot of tomato under laboratory conditions. Thiophanate-methyl, carbendazim, MEMC and carboxin were found effective inhibiting mycelial growth of pathogenic fungus more than 95 per cent at 200 ppm. Among insecticides and nematicides carbosulfan found to be highly effective exhibiting inhibition of mycelial growth over 75 per cent. Herbicides affected the mycelial growth adversely. Growth inhibition was meximum (70%) when isoproturon was added into culture medium followd by 2-4D. Sulfosulfuron inhibited the least.
