Abstract

The yield of Pleurotus eous was highest on wheat straw (850 g/kg dry straw). Pleurotus eous contained highest protein (30.45%). Phosphorus content in P. eous was highest (1150 mg/100 g) while potassium and sodium were more in P. sajor-caju i.e. 2280 and 320 mg/100 g respectively. The lysine content of P. fabellatus was highest (7.5 mg/100mg), while riboflavin was more in P. sajorcaju (46.1 mg/100). The protein content in spent straw increased two fold. There was reduction in cellulose (29.85–37.46%), hemicellulose (36.84–58.42%), lignin content (26.29–31.45%) and polyphenol (37.5–50.00 mg/100g) in spent straw.
