Abstract

Evaluation of ten superior progenies of Taiwan Guava selections revealed that there is a wide variation with respect to physical as well as chemical properties of the fruit in different selections studied. The selection 512 was found to be a promising one where fruits were attractive with uniform size, along with delightful aroma and recorded the maximum fruit size and maximum ascorbic acid (224.20 mg/100 g), anthocyanin (2.35 mg/100 g).With respect to overall acceptance TG Selection 5/12 ranked first (73.07 points out of 100) and even the consumer preference both for taste and appearance of the fruit was more acceptable as indicated by the organoleptic evaluation score.
