Abstract

A study was undertaken to determine the genotypic and phenotypic variation in 26 genotypes. A wide range of variability was observed for all the characters studied. Higher heritability coupled with genetic advance as percentage of mean was noticed for earhead girth, grain yield, plant height, fodder yield, days to maturity and days to 50% flowering indicating the presence of additive gene action and direct selection may be effective.
