Field experiment was conducted during rabiseason of 2006–2007 to study the effect of foliar spraying of seaweed extract (phytozyme) on growth and yield of rice. Sea weed extract @ 0.3 per cent was sprayed on the foliage of rice at different growth stages along with control (no spray). Spraying sea weed extract on the foliage of rice significantly influenced the growth, yield attributes and grain yield. Spraying of seaweed extract @ 0.3 per cent twice at 50 per cent flowering and at milk stages recorded significantly higher growth and yield attributes and was followed by spraying of seaweed extract @ 0.3 per cent at milk stage. Spraying of seaweed extract @ 0.3 per cent at fifty per cent flowering and milk stages recorded 26 per cent higher grain yield (6055 kg ha−1) when compared to control (4432 kg ha−1).
