Abstract

Correlation and path coefficient studies were worked out for 25 genotypes of clove bean (Ipomoea muricata (L.) Jacq.) during 2007–2008. Length, girth and weight of pedicel, weight of fruit and number of harvests had positive and significant correlation with yield. The positive direct effect on yield was revealed by weight of fruit, weight of pedicel, days to first flower production, days to first harvest and vine length. Therefore, these traits may be considered as the most reliable selection indices for effective improvement in fruit yield in clove bean.
