Abstract

Genetic parameters, heritability and correlation were estimated for seven quantitative characters in two crosses Gourav × Ratna and Kasturi × Ratna. The population showed highly significant difference for most of the characters. Moderate to high genetic variability and high genetic advance were observed for all the characters studied in both the crosses. Single plant yield was positively and significantly correlated with plant height, ear bearing tiller and panicle length in both the crosses. From the study it was found that plant height, ear bearing tiller, panicle length were best characters in selection of yield in these two crosses.
